The Waiting Game

I started working on a new EP last fall here in Tucson.  As in all things in life there have been some major obstacles getting it done.  Things not turning out right, I had some crazy vocal problems, guys working on the project now living in different states, three children (ha, ha), new job and ministry.  I've been busy.  I can't wait to put it out. I've got some new songs I'm really proud of.  My hope is it will be finished this summer, fingers crossed and a lots of praying.

When things don't go like I want, when I seem to be in a waiting place, I immediately turn to God and start asking questions.  What's the deal God, why can't things be easy.  So and so, just went and pulled that off like no big deal.  Of course I've been asking those questions.  I've learned a few things along the way,  here are some thoughts:

1. Stop looking at every obstacle as a reason to quit, and start looking at as an opportunity for God to show up big.  I immediately think about the Children of Israel spying out the promise land.   They had an opportunity to trust in God, with the exception of the two, everyone else said this is impossible, can't happen.  They missed out on God doing a miracle.  I choose to look at every situation and say, God I can't wait to see what you are going to do with this one.

2.  Your attitude really does matter.  You have to walk in a spirit of praise and thanksgiving.
Once again, the children of Israel spent 40 years in the desert just so God could get rid of their complaining.  I think we think that if God is going to do it, he's going to do no matter what we do.  It's simply not true, He responds to faith.  A verse that impacted me recently

Isaiah 7:9
9 Israel is no stronger than its capital, Samaria,
and Samaria is no stronger than its king, Pekah son of Remaliah.
Unless your faith is firm,
I cannot make you stand firm.”

If you don't have faith for what God is going to do, He can't help you. Your breakthrough requires faith that He can do what He says.  Start speaking life into the dreams God has put in you. God I praise You for the breakthrough that's going to happen.

3. Lastly, this is the hard one.  Usually, God is building some part of your character during the waiting times.  Maybe your character isn't ready for God to release His blessing yet.  He's taking you through this season so you can flourish in the next level not buckle under it.  God is sovereign but I know this, He loves us and His plan is always for our good.  I trust you Heavenly Father.

I make a choice today to believe God for the impossible.  He works everything out for His good.
